Lavelle Layfield has been the minister at the Malakoff Church of Christ since July 2002.
Lavelle has been a member of the Church of Christ for sixty years. During those years, he has served as a preacher, Bible class teacher, deacon, elder, Internet teacher, jail minister, Christian university trustee, editor and staff writer. Lavelle retired from commercial banking after a forty-five year career, retiring as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer.
He holds a Bachelor's Degree with a major in Greek and a minor in Bible from Abilene Christian University. He graduated from Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.
Since retiring from the banking business, Lavelle has worked full-time teaching World Bible School courses throughout the world, serving as a staff writer for an international web page, teaching Bible classes weekly in the local jail, preaching for a local area church and teaching other adult classes.
He has visited missionaries in Mexico, Athens, Greece and South Africa. He has traveled extensively in Europe and toured Egypt and Israel, studying the many Bible sites.
